Power of Insignificance

Ever wondered what it might feel like to be all powerful - to feel like you can do anything you intend to do? Yoga Sutras, an ancient text outlining the purpose and practise of Yoga, describe 'omnipotence' as one of the powers that a student on the path of yoga would experience.

What is this omnipotence though? Is it an egoistic 'I can do it all' or is it a humble state of reverence and connection with the universe where you feel a larger sense of yourself that pervades all matter, time and space?

It is that state of awe that we might experience when we gaze at the stars on a night sky or stand on the shore and look into the horizon or look up and stare at a giant mountain or an animal many times larger than our bodily self.

Life is a paradox - a dance between opposites and seeming contradicting thoughts. In order to truly experience something we need to accept and surrender to it's opposite. And thus to feel the state of omnipotence, we need to first surrender to our insignificance compared to the enormity of the universe.

1. Indulge yourself for 2 minutes each day, starring at the night sky/ staring into the horizon

2. When stressed or anxious remind yourself that who you think you are( in your body and mind) is just a speck of dust compared to the vastness of collective intelligence.

3. Practise Shavasana (Corpse pose) where you lie on your back, relax each part of your body from toes to head and then witness your bodily self, as if it was just dead meat and that your essence is standing outside of it, as an observer.

4. Commit to daily sitting meditation where you connect with your breath for at least 2 minutes each day.

If you need assistance with meditation, or yoga poses contact me to arrange a private session. If you are interested in learning more about the Yoga Sutras visit my website, www.soulfulment.com and browse through the products and services.

May the power of insignificance guide you towards omnipotence.

Love,

Prabha
